On Wednesday, 17th March, representatives from different business groups and social associations visited the Autodrome Terramar to see the site for themselves and learn about the project. The visit is just one of a number of meetings that Terramar 1923 (the company that runs the site) have been holding with local residents and business groups to share details about the project and their plans to hold international equestrian competitions and motor events here.
In attendance were representatives from Viu Comerç, the Garraf Chamber of Commerce, Visit Vilanova, the Vilanova Hospitality Association and the Barcelona Technical Architects Association. The Autodrome director, Matthieu Liard, explain the project and the positive impact it is expected to have on the local economy.
The unanimous response from all present was positive and the various attendees saw the project as a great opportunity for the region. In the words of Cristina Puigpinós (Viu Comerç), “It is a very interesting and advanced project which could attract many people to the region”. Similarly, Àngel Font, president of the Chamber of Commerce, stressed that “this is a good project for the economy; we need projects like this”. Joan Manuel Gallego (Visit Vilanova) suggested that the reopening will create “a permanent stage for events, attracting an audience with medium to high purchasing power”. Josep Orriols (Barcelona Technical Architects Association) also said that they “value this project very highly. This is a win-win project which will help to relaunch the local tourism sector”.
